Today the world mourns the loss of an internet marketing icon – Steve Jobs.
Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 56. Although the cause of death has not been revealed, family and friends explained that Jobs died “peacefully,” surrounded by loved ones. Jobs had in the past fought pancreatic cancer and had also obtained a liver transplant.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,” said Apple’s board of directors in a statement. “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.”
“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being,” wrote current Apple CEO Tim Cook in a memo. “Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
An internet marketing genius, Job’s passing has affected the entire world. Even President Obama spoke out about his death. “Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs,” said President Obama in a written statement. “Steve was among the greatest of American innovators – brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.”
Jobs co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak. Together, the team set the stage for the now booming world of internet marketing with the Apple II, the world’s first personal computer. On ABC News’ “Nightline,” Wozniak spoke out about the loss of his long-time friend, saying it would be difficult to imagine how the world would move forward without Jobs.
Jobs has been called a mastermind and internet marketing genius by many. During his career, Jobs helped transform Silicon Valley and paved the way for other technology gurus such as Bill Gates to burst onto the scene. “The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come,” said Gates said in a statement.
Perhaps the most productive chapter in Jobs’ career happened recently, with the release of arguably the most ingenious products on the market – the iPod, iPhone and iPad. These products have revolutionized the digital world and have changed the face of technology forever. Jobs explained that his goal was to create products that were at “the intersection of art and technology,” and so he did, turning Apple into the most valuable company in the world.
Steve Jobs leaves behind a legacy that few will ever be able to attain. His creativity and genius will forever be revered and greatly missed. We will all love you and hold on to the memories; rest in peace, Steve Jobs.

If it were not for Steve Jobs there would be no internet. Rest in Peace.
