If you are looking to revamp your internet marketing campaign, getting on-board the Google+ bandwagon is a must.

Google+, also known a Google Plus or just Plus, is the newest innovative tool that search engine giant Google has rolled out with. For those who don’t know what Google+ is, it is Google’s version of a social networking site, like Facebook or Twitter.

However, it’s not just any other social networking site, it is directly linked to Google search, which means that businesses need to create a Google+ account ASAP if they want to ensure their internet marketing ventures will be prosperous.

Just like any other social networking site, Google+ allows users to create a profile, connect with friends, add contacts and share information, photos and videos. However, there are significant differences between Google+ and all other social networking sites.

For one, Google+ is big on privacy. Where users were confused by Facebook’s privacy settings since it came out in 2004, Google+ makes it convenient for users to establish privacy settings through various mechanisms. Users can create different groups for contacts (known as Circles) and posts can be edited to become available to certain groups only – which is a feature that is more specific than Facebook’s.

Google+ also has a +1 button that businesses might be very interested in. The feature is a way to approve a friend’s post, similar to the “Like” feature on Facebook, but not quite the same. The +1 feature has already been seen across Google’s search results when a user looks up information. Users can click on the feature if they approve the link as a good source of information.

Naturally, users initially thought that the more people +1 a site, the better it will rank. However, Google denied that the +1 would affect rankings at first. Yet, they did not dismiss the possibility that the feature would affect rankings in the future – and the future appears to be here.

With Google+, the +1 button goes beyond just approving someone’s post. It ties together all user-endorsed comments, videos, and other forms of content across the internet. When you +1 something, it’s as if you are adding your own personal touch and preferences to Google’s search algorithm. Eventually, you may find that content can appear in a search based on your +1 preferences. If this were to happen it will completely change the way internet marketing trends are followed.

Although specialized business profiles are not available on Google+ yet, businesses are still encouraged to get their feet wet with the site to gear up for the big leagues toward the end of the year. By getting a head start with Google+, businesses can begin to formulate a new internet marketing campaign that incorporates the site and its features.

The future of internet marketing appears to be flowing in Google’s direction. Businesses should start to concentrate more on meeting the mega-search engine’s algorithm specifics in order to increase their ranking across a search.
